Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) Curriculum

We have an important responsibility to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. We promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils. We educate the children to develop responsible attitudes and awareness of their personal safety so that they grow into happy healthy adults. Topics include: hygiene, keeping safe, healthy eating, exercise, and feelings. Sex education is integrated into the work in science, RE, and PE for most of the time.

In Year 5 and Year 6, PSHE is taught separately as a timetabled unit of work. Topics include: drugs, smoking, and puberty. Parents are notified in advance and are invited to view the material to be used and to ask questions. The school nurse is also involved in teaching this unit of work. Parents wishing to withdraw their child from all or part of sex education provided may do so, except for that required as part of the National Curriculum.

Please see the current PSHE topics that the children are studying in school this term.
